Field tip — Amazon interior has no signal

Georgetown and coastal areas have 4G on GTT and Digicel. The interior — Kaieteur Falls National Park, Iwokrama Forest, Rupununi savannah — has very limited or no signal. River lodges and eco-camps operate entirely without mobile signal. Download offline maps before any interior trip. Guyana's interior is accessed by small aircraft or river boat from Georgetown.

Network coverage in Guyana

Two main operators serve Guyana: ONE Communications (dominant incumbent) and Digicel Guyana. A third operator, ENet, has limited coastland coverage only. For Georgetown, New Amsterdam and the main coastal belt, both main operators provide 4G. 5G is at an early stage, available only in limited urban areas. Interior rainforest coverage is minimal regardless of operator.

Among the providers on this page, Airalo routes via ONE Communications and Digicel (4G). Roamless, Saily, Yesim and aloSIM do not disclose their Guyanese carrier. For specific dead zones at Kaieteur Falls, Iwokrama and the Rupununi, see the field tip above. Travel eSIM providers on this page route via ONE Communications or Digicel — check the carrier listed on each provider card.

VPN, passwords and documents

On hotel or café Wi-Fi, a VPN can be useful to keep your browsing private from the network operator. A password manager is also worth having for managing account access on the road. A secure cloud backup of your passport, visa and accommodation details can also be useful — keep an offline copy too. None of these are mandatory.

Common questions about eSIM in Guyana

Is there coverage in Kaieteur Falls or the interior?
Very limited. Georgetown and the coast have 4G. Kaieteur Falls National Park, Iwokrama Forest, and the Rupununi savannahs have no reliable mobile coverage. Interior eco-lodges are completely off-grid for mobile data. Download all maps, GPS routes and contact information before departing Georgetown for any interior trip.
