If you are based in an EU member state and your existing mobile plan has enough data for what you actually use, you are covered for travel across the EU under the "Roam Like at Home" regulation, at no extra cost. "Roam Like at Home" covers the EU and EEA (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein); it does not cover the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, Albania, Serbia, Ukraine. However, a regional eSIM still makes sense for EU residents in three cases: (1) your trip includes one of the non-EU countries above, (2) your domestic data runs out before the end of the month, (3) you hit your carrier's roaming fair-use cap on a trip inside the EU (most EU carriers cap roaming around 20-30 GB even on "unlimited" domestic plans). In each of these cases, a regional pack is often cheaper than buying an upgrade or roaming add-on from your home carrier. Travellers from outside the EU (US, Canada, post-Brexit UK, Australia, etc.) do not benefit from "Roam Like at Home" and are the primary audience for this page.

The exact thresholds vary by provider, change without notice, and depend on the specific plan and duration — verify each provider's current fair use policy before purchase.
If you stream video on the move or work from cafés, the daily throttle ceiling matters more than the unlimited label. For 5+ hours of HD streaming per day, a large fixed plan often delivers a more reliable experience than any "unlimited" plan.
Country coverage — what is actually included

Poland is not in this list — confirmed on aloSIM's own country picker. aloSIM does offer a separate single-country Poland eSIM and Poland is included in their Global pack, but the Europe regional pack does not work in Poland.
Common European itineraries — what to pick
Often missed: if you live in the EU, a regional Europe eSIM works in your own country AND in every other EU/EEA country where your phone already works under "Roam Like at Home". Two real situations: (1) your domestic monthly data runs out mid-month — a 5-10 GB Europe pack is often cheaper than a top-up from your home carrier; (2) you hit your carrier's roaming fair-use cap on a short trip inside the EU (most EU carriers cap roaming around 20-30 GB even when domestic data is "unlimited"). Best fit: Airalo Eurolink or Saily Europe at the 5-10 GB / 30-day tier. Fixed plans are usually cheaper than Unlimited for top-up use.
Classic 2-3 week European tour through 4 capitals. aloSIM Europe or Airalo Eurolink at the 10 GB / 30-day tier — pricing is typically close between the two, compare at the moment of purchase. All four cities have strong network coverage. Either pack works fine.
5-week backpacker route. Coverage check critical: this itinerary includes Poland (Krakow), which is excluded from the aloSIM Europe regional pack. Best choice: Airalo Eurolink or Saily Europe at the 50 GB tier (30+ day duration) — both cover all 5 countries with a single eSIM. If you still prefer aloSIM, you would need their single-country Poland eSIM in addition to the Europe pack. Avoid Saily if you need consistent rural coverage in Romania — networks vary by region.
2-3 weeks across the Balkans. Airalo Eurolink is the only pack that covers Albania and North Macedonia. aloSIM covers Montenegro and Croatia but excludes Albania and North Macedonia. If your route includes Albania, do not buy a generic Europe pack without verifying.
Specific case: UK is post-Brexit, Ireland is in the EU.
