Algeria has three mobile operators: Mobilis, Djezzy and Ooredoo Algeria. For a typical northern itinerary — Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba — all three deliver solid 4G and 5G (launched December 2025, rolling out nationally through 2026). Mobilis has the widest reach across the country; Djezzy and Ooredoo are fully competitive across northern cities and main routes.
The Saharan south is a different story. Tamanrasset, Djanet, the Tassili n'Ajjer plateau and the Hoggar mountains are thinly served on every operator — signal is essentially absent off main paved routes and tracks. If your itinerary includes the deep south, download offline maps in Algiers or Oran before heading out.
Which network does your eSIM use? Airalo's Algeria plan connects through Ooredoo and Djezzy; 5G availability on this plan is not confirmed. Roamless, aloSIM, Saily and Yesim do not publicly disclose which local network they use — in practice they connect through one of the three operators above.
