Weno (Chuuk island, main hub) has basic 4G on FSM Telecom. Palikir (Pohnpei, FSM capital) has reasonable coverage in town. Kolonia (Pohnpei) has good coverage for a Pacific micro-state. Yap has basic coverage in Colonia. Dive boats to the Chuuk Lagoon wrecks go offshore — completely offline during dives. Network coverage in Micronesia
FSMTC (FSM Telecommunications Corporation) is the sole mobile operator across the Federated States of Micronesia. Coverage is limited to the four main state islands — Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae — while the remaining 600+ islands have no mobile signal. 4G/LTE is available in main towns (Kolonia on Pohnpei, Weno on Chuuk, Colonia on Yap, Tofol on Kosrae); most roads and rural areas operate on 3G. 4G speeds are slower than international averages and congestion during evening peak hours is documented. No 5G is available. At the main tourist sites — Nan Madol (Pohnpei), the Truk Lagoon wrecks (Chuuk), Yap's dive sites, Kosrae's ruins — connectivity is limited to the nearby town areas.
FSMTC has limited international roaming agreements, so many foreign home SIM cards will not connect in FSM. Since FSMTC is the only network, every option runs on the same towers with identical coverage: the Saily eSIM on this page, an FSMTC eSIM (now offered directly), or a local FSMTC prepaid SIM. The choice comes down to price and convenience, not coverage — a local FSMTC SIM is usually cheapest.
