How much will it cost for your trip?
Koror and the main resort areas have reasonable 4G on PNCC (PalauCel). Babeldaob (the large main island) has coverage along main roads. Jellyfish Lake island has signal near the dock. Rock Islands dive sites (Blue Corner, Blue Hole, German Channel) are accessed by boat and are completely offline during dives. Download dive site maps and safety information before any liveaboard or day-dive trip.
Palau requires a Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee (PPEF) of $100 USD for all tourists, paid online before arrival. Download your receipt confirmation and dive site maps while on Wi-Fi in Koror before any dive trip. The Rock Islands are protected — single-use plastics, sunscreen with oxybenzone and swimming outside designated areas are prohibited.

eSIM — Palau
Network coverage in Palau
PNCC (Palau National Communications Corporation), branded as PalauCel, is the sole mobile operator. No 5G is available; a nationwide 4G/5G network upgrade is under construction and expected operational by end of Q1 2027. Currently, 4G/LTE covers Koror and Airai; several other states (Ngchesar, Melekeok, Ngatpang, Ngarchelong, Peleliu) have 3G; remaining areas operate on 2G. For the core tourist circuit — Koror, Rock Islands, Jellyfish Lake, Blue Corner, Peleliu — 4G is available in Koror; open water and remote dive sites have no signal.
The airport SIM desk is not reliably staffed — buy your SIM or eSIM at the PNCC Retail Store in Koror instead, where PNCC now sells eSIMs directly (in-person activation). Travel eSIM coverage is unreliable here: most major providers (Airalo, Nomad) do not offer Palau plans and only a few smaller ones do, so confirm Palau is genuinely supported before relying on any travel eSIM. A PNCC SIM or eSIM is the dependable option.
