Network coverage in Bermuda
Bermuda has three mobile operators: One Communications (incumbent, largest 4G/5G footprint), Digicel Bermuda (launched 5G island-wide in July 2025), and Paradise Mobile (5G-first new entrant). All three cover the 53 km² archipelago well with 4G; 5G is concentrated in Hamilton and main population centres. For a typical itinerary — Hamilton, St George, South Shore beaches (Horseshoe Bay, Warwick Long Bay), Dockyard — all three perform reliably.
Offshore at sea, signal drops within a few nautical miles on all operators. Provider routing on this page: Airalo routes via One Communications or Digicel at 4G/LTE. Roamless, Saily and Yesim do not publicly disclose their Bermudian carrier — every roaming partner connects through one of the three operators.

VPN, passwords and documents
On hotel or café Wi-Fi, a VPN can be useful to keep your browsing private from the network operator. A password manager is also worth having for managing account access on the road. A secure cloud backup of your passport, visa and accommodation details can also be useful — keep an offline copy too. None of these are mandatory.
Mistakes to avoid in Bermuda
Assuming UK domestic-plan coverage because Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory. Bermuda is constitutionally British but sits outside the UK domestic plan and outside the EU/EEA — no roaming agreement covers it. UK SIMs, like all other foreign SIMs, are charged international roaming here.
Counting on signal offshore. Mobile signal drops within a few nautical miles of the coast on all three networks. If sailing, fishing, snorkelling Devil's Hole or chartering a boat to North Rock — download marine charts and emergency contacts ashore. VHF radio remains primary for maritime use.
Buying a local prepaid SIM for a short stay. All local plans carry a US$0.40/day Government Licence Fee on top of the airtime price, plus passport-registration in-store. For trips under 14 days, a travel eSIM is materially cheaper and faster to activate.
Expecting 5G on every travel eSIM. Commercial 5G is live on all 3 local MNOs but travel eSIM 5G access depends on the underlying roaming partner. Airalo, Roamless, Saily and Yesim have not publicly enabled 5G for Bermuda — verify with the provider before relying on 5G.

Do I need a travel eSIM for Bermuda?
