How much will it cost for your trip?
Dakar, Thiès, Ziguinchor (Casamance) and Saint-Louis have good 4G. The Casamance region has coverage in Ziguinchor and main towns but the forest interior and Basse Casamance villages have limited signal. The Sine-Saloum Delta (mangroves, pirogue tours) has basic coverage near Ndangane. Eastern Senegal (Tambacounda, Kédougou) and the Niokolo-Koba National Park area have limited coverage.
The Dakar-Ziguinchor ferry (overnight) and Sine-Saloum pirogue tours are offline for most of the journey. Download offline maps, tide charts and lodge contact details before boarding. Kédougou and Bassari Country (Fouta Djallon foothills) — a UNESCO cultural landscape — have very limited signal. Download all route data in Tambacounda.

Network coverage in Senegal
Senegal has four mobile operators: Orange Senegal (widest coverage, dominant nationwide), Yas Senegal (formerly Free Senegal, rebranded in 2024), Expresso Senegal, and Promobile. For a typical itinerary — Dakar, Saint-Louis, Saly, Petite Côte, Siné-Saloum delta, Casamance (Ziguinchor, Cap Skirring) — Orange has by far the broadest reach. 5G is available with Orange and Yas in Dakar; 4G covers main towns and corridors island-wide.
For travel inland and in Casamance — Tambacounda, Niokolo-Koba, Bassari country — Orange is the safer default; Expresso and Yas have limited reach outside urban centres. On this page, Airalo and aloSIM both route via Orange Senegal (aloSIM also supports Yas), so both are well-suited to inland travel; Saily does not disclose its Senegalese carrier. SIM registration requires a passport and fingerprint in-country — a travel eSIM avoids this friction.
