EU Roam Like At Home rules apply in Sweden, but your carrier's fair use policy limits roaming data. Sweden is one of the most cashless countries in the world — cards are accepted virtually everywhere, including small cafés, market stalls and rural petrol stations. Cash in Kronor is almost never needed. Mobile payments via Swish are near-universal among locals but require a Swedish bank account. For EU roaming, check your carrier's FUP cap before relying on it for a longer stay. For non-EU visitors, a travel eSIM is almost always cheaper than carrier roaming.

Coverage is excellent in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and along all major transport corridors. For northern Sweden — Kiruna, Abisko National Park, the Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi, Jokkmokk and the Kungsleden hiking trail — Telia has the widest coverage including remote areas above the Arctic Circle. Even on Telia, signal can be sparse in deep wilderness. Download offline maps (Maps.me, Organic Maps or AllTrails) and route information before entering any national park or remote fjäll area. The Stockholm archipelago has good coverage on main islands but weaker signal on outer skerries.

For cities, all four are comparable. For Swedish Lapland, Norrland forests and routes like Kungsleden above the Arctic Circle, Telia has the most reliable reach. All four operate commercial 5G in major cities.

Assuming Sweden uses the Euro. Sweden is EU but uses Swedish Krona (SEK). A 2003 referendum rejected Euro adoption. Cards are near-universally accepted — cash is rarely needed.
