Field tip — Blue Mountains have variable coverage

Kingston, Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios have strong 4G. The Blue Mountains — home of Jamaica's famous coffee — have variable signal: Papine and Gordon Town have coverage but the higher trails and Blue Mountain Peak (2,256m) have limited signal. Port Antonio and the northeastern coast have good coverage. Reach Falls and interior waterfalls have limited signal.

Network coverage in Jamaica

Jamaica has two mobile operators: Digicel Jamaica (dominant, widest national 4G coverage including rural areas) and Flow (competitive in Kingston, Montego Bay and tourist corridors). 5G is not yet widely available — both operators run mainly 4G/LTE. For Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and the main resort zones, both operators deliver reliable 4G.

Among the providers on this page, Airalo routes via Digicel (4G). Roamless and Saily do not disclose their Jamaican carrier. All connect through Digicel or Flow — check the carrier listed on each provider card. For specific dead zones in the Blue Mountains and interior, see the field tip above.

VPN, passwords and documents

On hotel or café Wi-Fi, a VPN can be useful to keep your browsing private from the network operator. A password manager is also worth having for managing account access on the road. A secure cloud backup of your passport, visa and accommodation details can also be useful — keep an offline copy too. None of these are mandatory.
