Uzbekistan is not an EU member. EU RLAH does not apply. Carrier roaming is expensive. A travel eSIM is almost always cheaper. Uzbekistan has undergone a major tourism boom — cards are now accepted at many tourist hotels in Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. Cash in Sum is still useful at bazaars, local restaurants and for transport. Some bazaar stalls quote prices in USD — you can pay in either currency.
Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Termez all have strong 4G. The major tourist circuit is well covered. Driving between cities across the Kyzylkum Desert on the highway can mean 50–100 km stretches with limited signal. Download offline maps for inter-city travel. The Aral Sea region (Moynaq) is remote with very limited coverage. The Nuratau Mountains and rural Fergana Valley have decent signal in main towns.

Uzbekistan has four mobile operators: Ucell (strongest coverage on the Silk Road tourist corridor — Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakhrisabz), Beeline (wide national reach, competes well in cities), Uztelecom and Mobiuz. For the main tourist circuit, both Ucell and Beeline provide reliable 4G. 5G is available on Ucell and Uztelecom in major cities; travel eSIMs connect on 4G.
All international travel eSIMs for Uzbekistan — including the three on this page, Airalo, Yesim and aloSIM — route exclusively via Beeline. Ucell and Uztelecom are only accessible via a local physical SIM card purchased in-country with passport registration. For remote areas or extended rural travel, a local Ucell SIM provides better coverage than any travel eSIM.
