Non-US visitors should use a travel eSIM. Saint Thomas (Charlotte Amalie), Saint John (Cruz Bay) and Saint Croix (Christiansted) all have strong 4G/5G. The National Park on St John covers most of the island — signal is good at all main beach access points.
Trunk Bay (National Park) has strong signal at the beach. The USVI National Park covers 60% of St John — hiking trails like Reef Bay Trail have good coverage on the main path. Network coverage in the US Virgin Islands
The US Virgin Islands operates on US mobile infrastructure: Liberty Mobile (largest footprint, 4G and 5G), T-Mobile (4G and 5G, concentrated in tourist and urban zones) and Viya (4G only). US domestic phone plans work across St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix at no extra charge.
Liberty has the widest 4G and 5G coverage across all three main islands. T-Mobile 5G is strong in Charlotte Amalie and Cruz Bay but thinner in rural St. Croix and St. John’s national park interior. Viya is 4G only with limited reach outside populated corridors. 5G is live in Charlotte Amalie, Christiansted and main tourist zones.
International visitors need a travel eSIM. On this page, Airalo routes via Liberty Mobile (the widest network); Saily and Roamless cover the USVI on the US carriers (Liberty or T-Mobile) but don't name which. From St. John, phones may pick up BVI carrier towers (Digicel, Flow, CCT) and incur international charges — set manual network selection to Liberty or T-Mobile when in the USVI.
